At Spoony, community is our core. We are deeply committed to connecting with our users and followers, actively participating in conversations, and truly listening to your voices. Every week, we’ll feature a conversation with a fellow Spoony, sharing their unique story and experiences.
This week we're talking to Vanessa from Massachusetts, United States. Thanks for sharing your story!
Are you neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or disabled?
Chronically ill and neurodivergent.
What barriers have you experienced in making friends and connecting with people?
Being chronically ill and struggling with mental health issues can be challenging when it comes to finding friends. Some past friends have been uncomfortable, they haven’t understood why I can only talk at certain times due to treatment, or why some specific topics are off limits to avoid triggers. It has led me to feel more isolated than what my conditions had already made me feel.
What's been your experience on Spoony so far?
It’s been wonderful to see a community of people who struggle with similar issues come together as a unit and provide unconditional support to one another. It gives me so much hope for our future! It’s like having a family who understands what you’re going through. Most of us who have never had a single friend are now finding ourselves with a village ❤️
Each week we'll feature a Spoony from our amazing community. If you'd like to share your story, let us know here.
